New Ambassador Plans to Boost Ethiopia-US Diplomatic Ties
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s new Ambassador to the U.S., Seleshi Bekele said he will work to further enhance diplomatic relations between Addis Ababa and Washington.
Seleshi takes office as Special Envoy and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United States this week, replacing Fitsum Arega who served as Ethiopia’s ambassador for over two years.
The new ambassador met with diplomats and staff of the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC.
Addressing the diplomats, Ambassador Seleshi mentioned the importance of executing multifaceted efforts to boost the century-old bilateral diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and the US.
He also explained that cooperation should be strengthened through diaspora participation, people-to-people relations, technology transfer, trade and investment as well as image building, construction, tourism, and other sectors.
The mission members, for their part, said they will work harder than ever to balance the century-old diplomatic relations between the US and Ethiopia, as per the ministry of foreign affairs.
