Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 36 Cases, One Death over the weekend
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered a total of 36 novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and one related death over the weekend, data from the ministry of health shows.
The positive cases, identified from over 8, 700 Coronavirus tests carried out in the past forty-eight hours, brings the confirmed cases total to 469, 455.
At least 421, 638 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the country where a combined 34 recoveries are registered on Saturday-Sunday.
The nation has also seen only Covid-induced death in the reported period. The national death toll now stands at 7,489, according to Health Officials.
There are now 36 seriously sick Covid-19 patients in the country, says the latest report on Sunday that puts the confirmed active cases count at 40,326.
Despite the drop in the new and severe cases, health officials are still urging the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing face masks.
They are also pushing ahead with their nationwide vaccine drive which is targeting 12 year olds and above.
On Saturday-Sunday, close to 50,000 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the nation, taking the total shots given to the public to more than 29.2 million.
And 24.45 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the virus, the Minsitry reports.
The Ministry of health offered the first Covid vaccine in the country on March 13, 2021.
