Ethiopia Records Zero Covid fatalities as death toll stays at 7, 488
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered zero daily CoVID-19 related deaths and 64 new cases on Thursday, a ministry of health report says.
This is for the six days in the month of March that Ethiopia has reported zero Covid-induced fatalities. The nation death toll stays at 7, 488.
The nation has also recorded 64 new Coronavirus infections from 6,349 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, says the report.
The latest figure has brought the total number of confirmed cases to 469, 393.
Only 22 patients of Covid-19 have recuperated from the disease in the reported period, taking the recovery tally to 421, 562.
At least 48 patients are seriously sick, says the report that puts the confirmed active cases total to 41, 341.
– Vaccine Drive –
Despite a relative drop in new infections, authorities are still urging the public to remain vigilant and stick with Covid-19 protocol including wearing facemasks.
Health officials are also pushing ahead with theit nationwide vaccination campaign.
In the past 24-hours, more than 27, 000 doses of Covid vaccine have been given to the public, the report indicates.
To date, the country has administered a total of 29.1 million vaccine shots.
As many as 24.34 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the virus, say the report. Ethiopia’s ministry of health gave the first shot of the vaccine in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021.
