Ethiopia Records 169 New Covid-19 Cases, 68 Recoveries
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 169 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Wednesday, pushing its confirmed total to 467, 860.
In its report, the ministry of health indicates that close to 6,600 tests were conducted to identify the latest infections.
One person has also died due to the acute respiratory disease in the same period, taking the death toll to 7,429.
The number of severely sick patients in the ICU dropped by 5 compared to the previous day with health officials putting the tally at 142.
The patients are among the 51, 121 confirmed active cases in the country, according to the report.
It also says only 68 patients have recuperated from the respiratory disease, bringing the recovery count to 409, 308.
Health experts are still advising the public to observe the health protocol put in place including wearing face masks, social distancing and proper hand washing.
They are also urging the public to take the Covid-19 vaccine as the country step up its mass vaccination campaign for the second day in a row.
More than 834, 000 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24-hours, data from ministry of health shows.
Ethiopia started offering the Covid vaccine on March 13, 2021. To date, it has vaccinated nearly 12 million doses to its citizens against the virus.
At least 10.1 million people have also been fully vaccinated, report health officials on Wednesday.
