Ethiopia Reports 161 New Coronavirus Cases, 12 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 161 more Coronavirus infections on Wednesday, taking the national confirmed cases total to 467, 001.
The new cases were identified from 6,102 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report says.
The country has also recorded 12 Covid-induced fatalities in the same period, says the report. The national death toll now stands at 7,379.
Currently, there are 188 severely sick Covid19 patients getting treatment in hospitals across the nation. These patients are among the 54,395 confirmed active cases, the report notes.
Ethiopia’s recovery count has also reached 405, 207 after a total of 437 patients recuperated from the acute respiratory sickness in the reported period.
Health officials are still urging the public to observe the Covid protocols put in place including wearing face masks and practicing social-distancing.
Although at a small pace, they are also carrying out a nationwide vaccination drive which has seen nearly 11 million doses administered nationwide since March 13, 2021.
A total of 9, 372, 192 Ethiopians have been fully vaccinated, reports the ministry.
