Covid: Ethiopia Records 3,762 Recoveries, 6 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – The Ministry of health on Wednesday reported at least 3,762 recoveries from Covid-19 – the highest daily recoveries recorded in Ethiopia in the recent months.
The daily recover figure pushed the total of patients recuperated from the acute respiratory illness close to 380,000, the ministry’s report shows.
Ethiopia has also registered 473 new Covid infections after testing nearly 5,700 people in the past twenty-four hours.
The rise in the daily recoveries has reduced the active cases tally by 3, 295 from the previous day to 72, 853 on Wednesday, the report indicates.
It also says additional 6 Coronavirus-induced deaths have also been recorded in the last 24-hours, taking the death toll to 7,190.
At least 421 severely ill Covid-19 patients remain in hospitals, getting medical treatments.
To date, the East African nation has confirmed nearly 460,000 cases after conducting as many as 4.27 million tests. The total puts Africa’s second-most populous nation among the nations in the continent with the highest Covid-19 caseload.
Its health officials are strongly urging the public to observe the Covid protocols put in place including wearing face masks.
Amid a national push for vaccination, the country has so far administered a total of 10,965, 479 Covid vaccine doses, the ministry reports.
