Ethiopian Envoy Confers with South Sudan Defense Minister
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Ambassador in Juba, Nebil Mahdi, held talks with Angelina Teny, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs of South Sudan on Sunday.
The two discussed the security situation in northern Ethiopia, the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement issued late Sunday.
During their meeting, Ambassador Nebil briefed Defence Minister Teny on the atrocities that had been committed by the TPLF terrorist group in Afar and Amhara regional states.
He said the destructive challenges from this terror group has now been reversed due to the Ethiopian National Defence Force’s ENDF’s measures and Ethiopians unity at home and abroad.
The Defence Minister, on her part, said the Ethiopian Government has ensured that it has full capacity to stabilize its internal situations, according to the statement.
The stability in Ethiopia is the stability of the whole region and Africa as well, Defence Minister Teny added.
Stating the East African regional economic bloc IGAD’s role as guarantor for peace of the region, the Minister also expressed her firm conviction that Ethiopia would continue its leadership in these regards over the region and the whole continent.
The two sides have also held deliberations on other issues of common concerns, reads the statement.
