Covid-19: Ethiopia Reports 136 More Cases, 16 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 136 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Wednesday, bringing the confirmed infections tally to 371,672.

A total of 5, 616 people have been tested in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the latest positive infections, says the ministry of health in its daily report.



The country has also recorded sixteen additional Coronavirus-induced deaths and 87 recoveries in the same period, bringing the death toll to 6, 771 and recovery tally to 349, 124.

Currently, there are 234 seriously ill Covid-19 patients receiving medical treatments nationwide, claims the report that puts the active cases tally at 15, 775.

Health officials are currently carrying out a national vaccination campaign as part of the government’s response to stop the spread of the pandemic.




To date, Ethiopia has provided more than 9.55 million doses of Covid vaccine to the public. Of which, over 245, 600 doses were administered on Wednesday, according to the ministry of health.

The Ministry launched the vaccine drive in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021. Since then, more than 8.1 million Ethiopians have bee fully vaccinated against the Covid-19.
