ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 1,906 fresh novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Saturday, pushing the confirmed tally to over 305, 000, data from the ministry of health reveals.
The country tested at least 9, 112 people in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the new positive cases.
Thirteen people have also died in the same period due the acute respiratory diseases, taking the national death toll to 4,631.
The severe case count has continued to jump with seven more patients became seriously sick on the day.
There are now 587 severe cases in the country, shows the report that puts the national confirmed active cases tally at 26,929.
It also says 856 patients have recuperated from the disease on the reported period.
To date, Ethiopia has conducted nearly 3.22 million tests to confirm a total of 305,077 infections. About 273,515 of the infected people have already recovered.
Health officials are currently pushing ahead with the national immunization campaign as part of an effort to control the pandemic.
As many as 5,745 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the total number of vaccine doses offered to 2,434,041.
The East African nation launched the vaccination campaign this year, on March 13 – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
