President Sahlework meets IFAD’s New Country Rep

ADDIS ABABA – President Sahlework Zewde has met the new Country Representative of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mawira Chitima, on Thursday.

Chitima paid a courtesy visit call to the President during which he presented the large-scale projects undertaken by the organization in Ethiopia to strengthen and modernize the agriculture sector, according to the President Office of Ethiopia.



IFAD has invested over $700 million thus far and has plans for future projects to be implemented in close cooperation with the government of Ethiopia.

During thursday’s meeting, the President emphasized the importance of the agriculture sector for Ethiopia and called on IFAD to continue to support the development goals set by the government.
