Ethiopia Confirms 116 More Covid-19 Cases, 3 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded a total of 116 new novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and three related deaths on Thursday, data from the ministry of health reveals.

Nearly 5, 000 people have been tested in the past twenty-four hours nationwide to identify the positive cases.

Today’s daily new cases is highest the country recorded this month and surpassed a 100 mark for the first time since June 30.

Three more people have also passed away due to health complications related to the acute respiratory disease, saya the Ministry of Health’s daily covid report, that puts the national death toll at 4, 341.

Curreny, there are 10, 639 confirmed active cases in the East African nation, of whom 123 are in severe condition, confirms the report.

According to Ministry of Health, only 68 people have recuperated from the disease caused by coronavirus on the day, taking the national recovery count to 261, 817.

The East African Nation confirmed its first coronavirus infection on March 13, last year. It has, so far, reported 276, 799 cases after conducting over 2.9mln tests.

The country has continued to push ahead with its immunization campaign on Thursday with its
Health facilities inoculating at least 1, 828 people with Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24-hours.

To date, a total of 2, 055, 126 Ethiopians have been vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the report.

The ongoing vaccination campaign in the country began on March 13 – a week after Ethiopia received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility. The country also obtained 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine from China.
