Some 1, 777 Ethiopian Nationals Repatriated from Saudi Arabia on Monday

ADDIS ABABA – A total of 1, 777 Ethiopians have been airlifted from Saudi Arabia on Monday, the spokesperson Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today.

The latest returnees has brought the total number of Ethiopian nationals repatriated from the gulf nation to 5965.



Reports say thousands of Ethiopian migrants are still held in the Kingdom’s detention centers with deplorable facilities, causing government officials to initiate a major repatriation process on Saturday.

The process, which involves up to 6 flights per day, is expected to run for at least two weeks and plan to bring back 40, 000 Ethiopian nationals from the gulf nations.

Ethiopian task force in Saudi Arabia is organizing returnees and information, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
