Korea Provides Humanitarian Aid worth $700, 000 to Tigray

ADDIS ABABA – Korean government has donated Wednesday humanitarian assistance worth $700, 000 for the recovery effort in Tigray regional state.

The latest aid is provided through the UN world food Programme (WFP) and International Red Cross Commission (ICRC), according to the Republic of Korea’s embassy in Ethiopia.

The contribution targets to improve the humanitarian situation in the region by protecting the vulnerable population and providing food aid, the embassy added.

The latest aid will push the total amount of humanitarian aid the Korean government provided to the region to more than a million US dollars.

Korea has already provided 300, 000 US dollars worth of humanitarian aid to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) in December last year to support Ethiopian refugees in Sudan.

Korea will continue to work closely with the Ethiopian government and its development partners to ensure the humanitarian aid is delivered quickly and effectively to people in need of support, the embassy said.
