Covid-19: Ethiopia Registers 1, 981 New Cases, 25 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed a total of 1, 981 new coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and 25 related deaths on Wednesday.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the Ministry of Health announced nearly 7, 700 people have been tested in the past 24-hours to identify the positive cases.



The ministry also confirmed the death of at least 25 people due to COVID-related complications.

The figure has pushed the national death toll to 2, 718.

On the day, the number of hospitalizations has jumped by more than 50 as compared to the preceding day.

About 752 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at health facilities after they become severely ill.

The patients are among the 39, 213 confirmed active cases, according to the Ministry’s report.

Over the past 24-hours, at least 1, 052 people have recuperated from the respiratory disease, bringing the national recovery tally to 150, 642.

Ethiopia identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, the country has confirmed a total of 192, 575 infections after conducting over 2.3mln tests.
