Ethiopia Records 1, 692 more Covid-19 Cases, 19 deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 692 more coronavirus infections and 19 related deaths on Tuesday, according to Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 report.
Close to 7, 100 people have been tested over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, the Ministry said.
The report also shows 19 more people have died due to COVID-related complications, pushing the national death toll 2, 693. Ethiopia confirmed its first COVID-19 related death on April 15, 2020.
The number of hospitalizations has also continued to rise with 40 more patients getting severely ill on Tuesday.
A total of 693 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospital beds, according to the Ministry’s report. The patients are among the 38, 309 confirmed active cases in the country.
Over the past 24-hours, at least 1, 019 patients have recuperated after contracting the virus, the report claims
Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 190, 594 infections after conducting nearly 2.3mln tests.
