Ethiopia Records 1, 151 More Covid-19 Infections, 5 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered at least 1, 151 more Covid-19 infections and 5 related deaths  Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

In a daily Covid-19 report, the Ministry said 5, 760 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new cases.



Additional 5 people have passed away due to COVID-related complications on the day, indicates the report that put the national death toll at 2, 555.

The number of hospitalizations has surpassed the 500 mark for the first time after the total figure jumped by more than 60 in the day as compared to the preceding day.

About 531 patients are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital beds after they become severely ill, health officials reported. The patients are among the 30, 233 confirmed active cases in the country.

In the past 24-hours, only 118 people have recovered from the respiratory illness, bringing the recovery tally to 143, 828.

Ethiopia identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 176, 618 infections after conducting over 2.23mln tests.
