ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded additional 683 coronavirus cases and 9 related deaths on Wednesday, according to its Ministry of Health.
More than 6, 500 people have been tested on the day to identify the new positive cases, the ministry said in its covid report for Wednesday.
The report shows both the rate of both death and hospitalization has shown increase when compared to the preceding day.
It says at least 9 people have passed away due to the virus, pushing the death toll to 2, 167. The country confirmed its first COVID-19 related death on April 15.
The number of hospitalization has also increased by five within 24-hours. About 243 covid-19 patients are currently receiving medical attention in medical institutions after falling severely ill.
The East African nation currently has 13, 176 confirmed active cases.
On the same day, the report says at least 793 patients have recuperated from the disease.
The country, which confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, has tested more than 2mln people. It has, so far, confirmed 44, 249 infections. Nearly 126, 797 people have recovered after contracting the virus.
