Ethiopia Reports 865 new Coronavirus Cases, 9 Deaths
ADDIA ABABA – Ethiopia on Friday reported 865 new confirmed coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours, showing a slight decrease from the previous day.
The ministry said the country conducted more than 8000 coronavirus tests to identify the new positive cases of the virus that causes the deadly respiratory disease.
The total number of infections since the start of the epidemic rose to 82, 662 cases, the health ministry said. Ethiopia reported over 900 new infections on Thursday.
The number of deaths increased by 9 to 1, 271.
On the same day, at least 243 patients were hospitalized after they became critical ill, reported the ministry. The are among 44, 287 active cases in the East African nation.
About 668 patients recuperated from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 37, 100, according to the Ministry’s report.
To date, the East African nation has tested over 1.33mln people – among highest to be conducted in Africa.
