Ethiopia Records 789 New COVID-19 Cases, 12 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia reported 789 confirmed new cases of COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health data published on Friday.

The latest positive cases – identified from 12, 164 tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours – pushed the national tally of Coronavirus to over 63, 300.

During the period, twelve new deaths were also recorded. The official death toll has now reached 986, according to the Ministry’s daily report.

The country currently has more than 38, 350 active cases. Of these, 347 patients are in severe conditions, said the report, with the number of seriously ill patients jumping by 17 from Thursday.

The Ministry also reported the recovery of 384 patients of COVID-19, bringing the total figure to more than 24, 024.

The East African nation has tested 1, 122, 659 people for coronavirus since the first case confirmed on March 13, and identified 63, 367 infections so far.
