ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopia reported 916 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the national total to 61, 700, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry reported the new positive cases after laboratory across the nation conducted at least 15, 561 tests over the past twenty-four hours.
Along with 916 new cases, there were 17 deaths in the reported period from COVID-19, the ministry’s daily report claimed, taking the death toll in the nation to 966.
Currently, the East African country has 37, 678 active cases. This includes 319 serious cases who are receiving treatment in health facilities, said the ministry.
Over the past twenty-four hours, at least 377 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 23, 054.
Health officials confirmed country’s first case on March 13, 2020. To date, the nation tested 1, 093, 830 people, and confirmed 61, 700 infections.
