Fashion Show Lights Up Innovation Week

ADDIS ABEBA – A fashion show dubbed Textile and Leather Innovation has taken place at the residence of Norway’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Merete Lundemo’s residence in the capital.

The event took place on 30 October 2019 as part of African Innovation Week (AIW) 2019, which was hosted at the African Union Headquarters last week.

AIW aims to create a functional platform for African policymakers, researchers, academics, private sector and international stakeholders that engage in fostering innovation and inclusive sustainable development in Africa.

Prior to the runway show, panelists briefly discussed the challenge and opportunity of the fashion industry.

They stressed on the need to network with African innovative designers and the rest of the world.

Innovative Ethiopian designs featured at the runway show included Boho chic by Lulit Johannes, Kunjina by Kunjina Tesfaye, Qemer by Yoadan and lulit, Roar apparel by lidia tameru, Meklit.me by Meklit Marsha and Zewed design by Bethelehem Abebe.

Diplomats, celebrities and government officials including Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Getahun Mekuria were among the guests that attended the runway show at Ambassador Merete Lundemo’s residence.
