Dr. Lia Attends Africa CDC Regional Center Launch in Nairobi
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse attended the launch of the Eastern Africa Regional Collaboration Center (Eastern Africa RCC) for the Africa CDC in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
The launch of the center aims to implement the vision of the African Union to create a healthier Africa through close collaboration with Member countries, says Africa CDC.
Apart from Dr. Lia, health Ministers of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania attended the launching ceremony on Saturday.
The center is tasked to coordinate and promote partnerships and strategic initiatives in the 14 member states in the East African region.
It will also be vital in strengthening “disease surveillance, laboratory systems, public health communication and more towards resilient health systems,” Dr. Lia said.
“I would like to say congratulations and thank you to all who made this center a reality, particularly the Government of Republic of Kenya, The Ministry of Health of Kenya, African Union and Africa CDC team” the Minister said.
