Redwan Replaces Markos as Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs

ADDIS ABABA – Ambassador Redwan Hussien has been appointed as State Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), effective from 27 December, 2019, the ministry said.

Redwan replaced Ambassador Markos Rike (PhD), who was reportedly informed about the termination of his position by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed last weekend.

Ambassador Redwan “is appointed to be State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia as of 27 December 2019,” confirmed MoFA in a statement on Friday.

Redwan has been serving as Ethiopia’s envoy to Eritrea since July 2018. Prior to that, he served his country in various government positions, including as Minister of Communication and Ambassador to Ireland.
