Ethiopia’s FM Meets Head of Africa World Economic Forum

ADDIS ABEBA – Foreign minister Gedu Andargachew has held a discussion today with Elsie Kanza, Head of the World Economic Forum (WEF’s) Africa program.

The two sides met to exchange views on the agenda items for the 2020 WEF in Davos, Switzerland.

Gedu and Elsa also discussed the WEF’s Africa Charter that will be held in Addis Ababa on 03 September 2020, according to Ministry of Foreign affairs.

Foreign minister Gedu gave Elsa a run-down of the preparation that Ethiopia has been undertaking since Dr. Abiy Ahmed and WEF’s President Mr. Børge Brende’s agreement signed on 15 May to host the Forum in Ethiopia.

He also briefed her about Ethiopia’s interest to discuss “the Changing Geo-political situation in the Horn of Africa and its impact for the Economic integration and peace and stability in the region” in Davos.

Elsa said the Davos Forum will be held under the theme “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.”

It will primarily focus on discussing global, regional and national initiatives that generate positive impact for all stakeholders, she added.

She said discussions on ecology, economy, technology, society, geopolitics and industry are selected to be priority areas for the forum in Davos.

The Davos World Economic Forum annually brings together business leaders, investors, politicians and journalists from across the globe to discuss current global economic and social issues.
